Asked if being part of a limited run was frustrating, Freeman said: “Well, this is the longest run I’ve ever done so this feels like ample time to me!
"Also, we’re all knackered, aren’t we? We’re all nicely tired. I’m quite glad it’s not going on for another three months, I’ll be quite honest.
"It is a very, very enjoyable play to do. I love doing it. But no, this doesn’t feel like a short run to me."
Asked if it is something he would like to revisit when he is older, Freeman replied: “I don’t think I could. I honestly don’t think I could.
"Since I’ve been doing this, I’ve been thinking about people like [Ian] McKellen and other people I know who do big Shakespearean roles when they’re a lot older - I have no idea how they do it.
"I don’t know if it’s a combination of being a dad and trying to do normal home stuff, and doing this in the evening, but I couldn’t see myself doing this in 20 years. It’s doing me in now!"
